Robert Lon Scoggins, 70, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at his residence in La Feria.
Robert was born on February 28, 1942 in Harlingen to James and Tersie Scoggins. He attended schools in Harlingen and after graduation served in the U.S. A.F. for 10 years. After his military service he returned to Harlingen and worked with the Butter Krust Bakery Co. as a deliveryman and was also an owner/driver with the Harlingen Taxi Cab Co.
Robert had many interest especially his love of fishing, working in his garden, watching NASCAR and playing with his dogs.
He is survived by step-daughter, Patricia Garza (Ruben) of Harlingen; daughter, Barbara Ziska (Mike) of Germany; son, James Scoggins of Oklahoma; brothers, Keith Scoggins of Sinton, TX, Bill Scoggins of Clute, TX; sisters, Dean Williams of Harlingen, Beatrice Brandon of Willow, Alaska, Mary Barnes of Ft. Worth, TX, Judy Falksen of Longview, TX; grandchildren, Aaron X. Garza and Zane A. Ziska.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Karla Jean (Otto) Scoggins, sisters, Lois Boyd, Christine Brandon, and Betty Pittman, and by his parents
Visitation hours will be from 9:00 AM till service time, Monday, May 14, 2012 at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home, 1:00 PM, Monday, May 14, 2012 with Philip A. Barnes officiating. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at the Harlingen-Combes Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James Scoggins, Jeremy Pollard, Mike Ziska, Ruben Garza, Jr., Gary Sauceda and Aaron Garza. Honorary Pallbearer will be Cloyce Falksen.
