Robert H. Montgomery was born June 12, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan and died in Harlingen, Texas on June 5, 2009.
He graduated from Milford High School, and then joined the Air Force. He was a volunteer fireman in West Bloomfield for many years. He was a co-owner of Montgomery & Sons, Fire Repair Contractors in Waterford, Michigan until his retirement. He lived in recent years in Roscommon, Michigan and Harlingen, Texas.
He enjoyed traveling, working in his workshop, his gun collection, and working in the wood with his Caterpillar backhoe. He was a life time member of the BPOE and also the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Montgomery of Harlingen, TX. His children are Joan Montgomery of Houston, Texas, Robert J. (Georgia) Montgomery of Auburn Hills, MI, Janet (Elaine) Montgomery of Cincinnati, Ohio, Anthony Montgomery of Goodrich, MI and Andy (Jennifer) Montgomery of St. Charles, Illinois. Also his stepchildren are Ronald Lentz and Larry (Linda) Lentz of Fenton, MI. He has 24 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
His father and mother, Tom and Lillian preceded him in death. Also preceding him are his stepchildren, Lois Maitland of Florida, Robert Lentz of Fenton and Richard Lentz of Florida.
Funeral service will be held at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home on Monday, June 8, 2009 at 10 a.m. with Rev. David Mann, officiating.
