San Benito:
Robert “Bobby” E. Floyd, Jr., 76, passed away Monday, April 23, 2012 at Valley Baptist Medical Center.
Bobby was born January 14, 1936 in Adams Garden to Robert Floyd, Sr. and Lillian Mae Green.  He graduated from San Benito High School in 1955 and soon after served with the National Guard and then with the U.S. Navy.  Bobby was honorably discharged in 1959 and served 3 more years with the Naval Reserves.
Bobby started his career with Floyd’s Mufflers & Auto Parts on F Street in Harlingen and then worked for the RGV Sugar Growers for over 26 years until he retired in 2001.  He enjoyed fishing, traveling in his RV and working in his citrus grove.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jerry Kay Floyd of San Benito; daughter, Shaun L. (Floyd) Boone of Austin, TX; son, Robert E. Floyd, III of Harlingen; brothers, Paul M. (Geraldine) Floyd, Sr. of San Benito and Keith A. (Pat) Floyd of San Benito; sister, Margaret O. (Buddy) Curbello of San Benito; grandchild, John W. Boone, III of Cuero, TX; and by numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Linda Lee Floyd.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM with the family receiving friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, April 26, 2012 at the funeral home.
A Celebration of Bobby’s life will be held at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home, 10:00 AM, Friday, April 27, 2012 with Rev. David Mann officiating.  Burial will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Danny Long, Bobby Green, Richard Green, Curtis Green, Buddy Curbello and Fred Allbee.
Those desiring to do so may make memorial donations to the Rangerville Baptist Church, 32004 Rangerville Rd San Benito, TX 78586.
The family would like to thank Maribel Mercado, his wonderful home health nurse, Dr. Shenkenberg and staff, Dr. Sanusi, Dr. Roa, Dr. Green and Dr. James, and all his nurses on the 4th floor, especially Rosario and Sister Justine for making him comfortable in his last days.
