Laguna Vista, TX: Robert Edward Bauer, 78, passed away Monday, December 13, 2010 at a hospital in Brownsville, TX.
Robert was born January 16, 1932 in Mitchell, SD to Edward and Laverne Bauer. He attended South Dakota State University at Brooking, SD and then proudly served 4 years in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was auto parts counterman and manager of a NAPA auto parts store in Mitchell, SD and an owner/operator of a poultry produce and dairy business also in Mitchell, SD.
Robert had many interest that included hunting, fishing, reading, archery, travel, gardening, cooking, weather watching, nature watching, computers and photography. He was a member and Deacon of the Congregational UCC in Mitchell, SD, Boy Scouts and the Order of DeMolay.
He is survived by his wife, Iris E. Bauer; daughter, Debra L. Gibson; son, Frederick L. Bauer; sisters, Beverly M. Miller and Mary Jane Nelson; grandchildren, Michelle Boyer and Valerie Gibson; and 5 great grandchildren.
A memorial service honoring Robert’s life will be held at Christ’s Harbor Church in Laguna Vista, TX, 1:00 PM, Friday, December 17, 2010 with Pastor Don Ceglar officiating.
