Richard Lee Woods

Richard Lee Woods, 86, peacefully passed September 19, 2023 at his home in San Benito, Texas.  He was born to the late Henry S. and Edith Adams Woods on February 17, 1937 in Pharr, Texas.

Richard proudly served his country as an Airman Recruit, U.S. Navy.  He was employed with Valley Solvent and Chemicals and retired after 15 years of service.  Richard was a member of Rangerville Baptist Church and the San Benito Elks Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Edith Woods; brothers, Cecil and Harlan Woods; and sister, Faye Otsuki.

Left to treasure Richard’s memory is his loving wife, Bertha M. Woods; his siblings, Pat White and Kenneth Woods; several nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Ernesto Montalvo; sister-in-law, Norma Moreno; and his beloved pet Cindy.

The family would like to thank Dr. Juan Garza, Dr. Ayala and Red Team, Dr. Brajesh Bhatla, Dr. Tim Bothwell, and Home Telehealth Services for their care.

The Woods family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, September 25, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home.  A funeral service will take place in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 9:00 a.m.  Following the service, Richard will be laid to rest at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Honored to served as pallbearers are Steve Woods, Michael Woods, Buddy Carbello, Victor Moreno, Xavier Tijerina, Art Alvarado, and John De La Cruz.
