Richard H. Skeen Sr., 89, passed away on December 15, 2013 at Veranda Nursing Home in Harlingen, TX.
Richard was born October 24, 1924 in Alton, IL to Harry Gleen Skeen and Caroline LeMelia (Sahner) Skeen. He graduated from Carlinville Senior High School and attended Detroit Institute of Applied Science where he received a degree in engineering.  Richard proudly served his county with the Army Air Force during WWII as a flight engineer on the B-24’s in Liverpool, England. He married Audrey Fay Dill on July 3, 1946 in Detroit, MI. Richard was employed by Budd Co. and retired in 1989. He held a Stationary Engineer License, was of the catholic faith, enjoyed spending time with his family, working on his cars, remodeling his home, and hunting with his son.
After retiring Richard became a Winter Texan living in Casa del Sol in Donna, Texas Trails in Pharr, Bentsen Palms in Mission and settling in down at Sun Valley Village in Harlingen.
He is survived by his wife Audrey Fay Skeen of MI/TX; daughter, Cheryl Ann Matthews and husband Donald D. Matthews of MI/TX; step grandchildren, Linda Matthews Schroeder (Lonie Schroeder) of NM, Tom Matthews of NM, Mike Matthews (Tonia White Matthews) of IN and Rick Matthews of AZ; 10 step great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; son, Richard H. Skeen Jr., sister, Rita Mae Skeen Murriel; and brother, Glenn Skeen.
No services will be held.
The family would like to thank the staff at Veranda Nursing Home and Angel at Cima Hospice.
