Richard Garcia Mata, 23, of San Benito, TX was born on September 6, 1990 to Jesus Mata and Dora Garcia. Richard passed away on August 10, 2014 at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen, TX.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Elena Sanchez; his maternal grandparents Juana Garcia and Ignacio Garcia; his uncles Juan Garcia and Jose Luis Garcia.
Richard is survived by his mother Dora Garcia Rodriguez; his brothers Jaime G. Rodriguez, David Garcia, Jesus Mata Jr., Roberto Mata, Jesus Mata; his sisters Estefania Mata, Michelle Trejo; his father Jesus Mata; his wife Sarah Garcia Mata; his daughters Natalie Renae Mata, Reyna Mata, Rhianna Rayne Mata, Baby Mata and his paternal grandfather Roberto Mata. He is also survived by Godparents Maria Alicia Ayala and Fred Ayala and numerous aunts and uncles, Fred and Alicia Ayala, Linda Garcia Moreno, Gloria Gomez, Mary Mena, Benito and Amelia Garcia, Faustino and Christina Garcia, Jose and Janie Garcia, Ruben Garcia and Diana Trevino Garcia and Raul Garcia.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m., Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at San Benito Funeral Home. Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 14, 2014 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in San Benito, TX. Interment will follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting monetary donations.
