Richard Smith

The family of Richard “Dick” Smith wishes to announce his going home to the Father on November 13th, 2009.
Dick was the son of George and Amelia Smith. He was born August 2nd, 1928 in Stanwood, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during WWII.  Dick married Audrey Adams on August 2nd, 1947 in Massillon, Ohio.  They shared 62 blessed years together and had three children, Cheryl (Chuck) Simon on Greentown, Indiana, Wendy (Michael) Bertsch of Millersburg, Ohio and Todd Smith of Massillon, Ohio.  Dick was retried truck driver with Yellow Transit Freight of Ohio.
Dick was also quite the outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, he shot pool, tossed horseshoes, but most of all he was the best husband and father in the whole world and loved the Lord.  Dick never knew a stranger and made himself available to anyone in need.
He is leaving behind seven grandchildren, Stacy (Matthew) Evans, Jolene (Jeff) Mutchman, and Christopher Simon all of Indiana, Richard Schofield Jr., and Kelly Schofield of Ohio, Lucas (Jen) Smith of Ohio and Tessa Smith of Wisconsin.
Dick and Audrey are also blessed with six great grandchildren Hannah, Rebecca, Rachel and Matthew Jr. Evans and Clayton and Aleah Mutchman all of Indiana.  Dick also leaves behind a brother John (Alice) Sonnhalter and a nephew Ed Kolek of Ohio.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Virginia Bennett and Edith Kolek.
Dick and Audrey are members of the First Christian Church of Harlingen, Texas.
His memorial service will be held Wednesday, November 18th at 2:00 p.m. at First Christian Church.
