Reynaldo George Rentería

Love endures in many forms, and it endured in its purest in Reynaldo George Rentería, who passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 in his Harlingen home. Reynaldo was born January 28, 1962 to Juan De La Fuente Rentería and Paulina Cerda Rentería, who preceded him in death. Reynaldo is known and will forever be remembered as a dedicated and loving father, husband, son, and brother.

Always clad in his favorite blue shirt, jeans, and work boots, Reynaldo lived a life of compassion and was an avid outdoorsman, working in the specialty of palm trees alongside his father and brothers. Reynaldo enjoyed driving his 1977 Peterbilt truck to transport palms throughout the state of Texas, and his family and loved ones can find the handiwork of decades of labor in the planted palm trees at several venues that make the Rio Grande Valley beautiful.

Reynaldo was valedictorian of his graduating high school class in 1981, and married the love of his life, Patricia Rentería, in 1998. They raised their two children, Katelynn Marie Rentería and Reynaldo George Rentería II, in their Harlingen home. As a devout Catholic, Reynaldo volunteered his time with his wife as catechists teaching 3rd grade First Communion classes at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. The Rentería family also donated palm trees and palm leaves for Palm Sunday celebrations to over 25 churches across the Rio Grande Valley for over 40 years.

Reynaldo is survived by his wife Patricia Rentería, his daughter Katelynn Marie Rentería, and his son, Reynaldo George Rentería II, who will honor and remember him in every aspect of their lives.

The family will receive relatives and those who wish to honor Reynaldo on Friday, June 30, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Liturgy will take place on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 2:30 PM at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. Reynaldo will be laid to rest at Heavenly Grace Memorial Park at 4:00 PM.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Reynaldo G. Rentería II, Rolando J. Rentería Sr., Juan R. Rentería, Rolando J. Rentería Jr., Richard O. Gonzalez, Lot Atkinson, Leonel Solis, and Edgar Martinez.
