Rebecca M. Rodriguez

December 20, 1980 — August 16, 2024

Harlingen, Texas

Rebecca Rodriguez, 43, of the Philippines, passed peacefully in her sleep on Friday, August 16, 2024 in Harlingen, TX.

Rebecca is preceded in death by her son, Davion Ryan Rodriguez and her father, Jancing Dayag of the Philippines.

Rebecca is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Ronnie Rodriguez, her mother Minga Dayag, her brother Robert (Roxanne) Dayag, her nieces Charm and Nareya, nephew David Ryan in the Philippines, her mother-in-law Lita Rodriguez, father-in-law Frank Rodriguez, sister-in-law Crissy (Rey) Rodriguez, nieces Kayla, Kassy, Jovie, Lily, nephew Gabriel, and great niece Emrey, and many numerous friends and church family.

In 2005, Rebecca was living in the Philippines and was introduced to her future husband through a minister. After their whirlwind online romance grew, Ronnie flew to the Philippines to ask for her hand in marriage and officially proposed in person. Eight months after meeting, Ronnie flew to the Philippines to bring Rebecca home with him to be his wife. They were married on July 8, 2005 in Weslaco, TX.

Rebecca was a very creative and ambitious nail tech. Her passion for nails led her to open her own salon, Davion’s Nail and Hair Salon, which she named after her baby boy in heaven. Her dedication and quality of work made her well-known and sought after by her many clients. Due to her illness, she had to close her salon at the end of 2022.

In 2017, Rebecca first began her battle with multiple cancers. She always fought hard and kept her faith and eyes on God throughout her struggle. Even though she was so tiny, she had such a fight to live and always bounced back every time. Her faith kept her from feeling sorry for herself and she still always tried to help others when she could.

Another great passion Rebecca had was cooking, which she discovered when she came to the U.S. She even had her own Filipino food booth at Market Days. Rebecca used her cooking skills to bless others, especially her husband, who will miss her delicious meals and desserts so much.

Rebecca was a member of Grace Point Fellowship in Harlingen, TX where her husband is also a staff pastor. She served with the youth and women’s ministry. She enjoyed helping with youth activities and fundraisers, including one for the Philippines. She loved all her church family, and their continued prayers and encouragement helped sustain her.

Rebecca was our little Filipina Diva, and she always knew how to brighten up a room with her grace, strength and beauty.

Rebecca fought the good fight, she finished her course, and she kept the faith.

An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels. Proverbs 31:10
