Raul Perez

Raul Perez, 69, passed away on July 6, 2020 after a brief illness. He was born to Patricio Perez and the late Vicenta Aguilar Perez on November 20, 1950 in San Benito, Texas.

Raul was a proud San Benito Greyhound and a graduate of San Benito High School, Class of 1970.  He joined the San Benito Fire Department in 1972, worked his way up the ranks from Firefighter to Assistant Fire Chief, and retired from the SBFD in 2007 after faithfully serving his community for 35 years.  Not ready to slow down, Raul became a businessman in his “retired” years. When he found time to relax, he enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys on television.

Raul’s mother, Vicenta Perez, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his life partner, Juanita Cote; daughter, Angelica Perez; father, Patricio Perez; brother, Ramiro (Josefina) Perez; sisters, Norma (Oscar) Tamez and Gloria (Russell) Montalvo; nephew, John Daniel Lucio.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Ramiro Perez, Russell Montalvo, John Daniel Lucio, Juan Carlos Ayala, Romeo Mancillas, and Henry Lopez.  Manuel Trevino will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM at San Benito Funeral Home.  A graveside service will take place on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
