Raquel Garcia, 84, passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Raquel was born February 27, 1926 in Malakov, Texas to Julio and Paz R. Dominguez. She was 55 year resident of Harlingen and enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, traveling, the outdoors, and fishing. Mrs. Garcia was member of St. Anthony Catholic Church of Harlingen.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Guadalupe Cantu.
Raquel is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ponciano Garcia; her sons, Antonio (Sylvia) Garcia and, Fernando (Kimberly M.) Garcia; four grandchildren, Adriana R. Garcia, Lisa M. Garcia Murphree, Cristina A. Garcia and Noah M. Garcia; nieces, Thelma Benitez and Lucila Rodriguez; and six brothers and four sisters.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 4, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a Rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.
The funeral procession will depart Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Harlingen. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in La Feria.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 4687 North Mesa, Suite 200, El Paso, Texas 79912.
Mrs. Garcia was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
