Rafaela L. Plata, 89, passed away peacefully at her residence on April 1, 2014 surrounded by her family.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was born on April 28, 1924 to Mauricio and Aurora Lopez. Her love for her family, plants, working outdoors and her love for God was never ending and she enjoyed listening to spiritual readings.
She was preceded in death by husband Nonito C. Plata; her brothers Raul Lopez, Mauricio Lopez and her sister Estrella Montemayor.
She will be greatly missed by her brother Gregorio (Amelia) Lopez and sister Anna (Rogelio) Lopez, her sons Nonito Jr (Norma), Benigno (Ninfa), Joel (Mary); her daughter Nelda (Freddie) Ortega, 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 3 great-greatgrandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at San Benito Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Baptist Temple Church. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Adam Jacob Ortega, Nonito Plata III, Benny Plata, Bryan Briones, Isaiah Plata, Rick Domingo, Ramiro Gonzalez Jr., Rudy Palacios, Emilio Ortega and Rudy Cortinas.
