Rafaela (Rodriguez) Gonzales

Rafaela R. Gonzales entered eternal life November 27, 2022 at the age of eighty-six. She was born February 6, 1936 to the late Raymundo and Luz Rodriguez in Odem, Texas.

She was retired from San Benito CISD Nutrition Services. Rafela served the children and staff of Sullivan Elementary School as a Cafeteria Aide for sixteen years,. In her leisure time, she enjoyed arts and crafts, reading, and completing crossword puzzles. One of her greatest joys was attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.

Rafaela was a lifetime member of Iglesia Presbiteriana Getsemaní of San Benito.

Left to treasure her memory are Rafaela’s children, Richard (Sandra), Andy, Lorraine (Daniel), and Emilia (Daniel); her grandchildren, Lorraine Stevie Mendoza, Daniel Andres Delgado, Matthew Ray Delgado, and Emily Danielle Delgado; and her loving pets. Her husband, Andres “Andy” Gonzales, preceded her in death.

Rafaela’s family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday, November 30, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A prayer service will begin Wednesday evening at 7 o’clock. A funeral service will take place in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. Following the service, Rafaela will be laid to rest at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Daniel Delgado, Andy Gonzales, JD Penny, Gilberto Conde, Danny Delgado, and Matthew Delgado. Richard Gonzales, Nora Jean Plata, and Johnny Hernandez will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The Gonzales family wishes to thank the caring staff of Bee First Hospice and Rafaela’s wonderful caregivers, María Ortega and Letty Rodriguez.
