Harlingen:
Rae Dawn Nicholas Young was born October 19, 1956 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Morgan Ray and Anna Mae Nicholas. She died Saturday, June 28 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen.
Rae Dawn is survived by her husband, Randy Young of Harlingen, and her son, Chase Young of Madison, Wisconsin. She is also survived by her sister, Jackie Witt of Roanoke, her husband Phil, and their children, Eddie and Duana David, Jessica Witt, and Michael Witt.
Rae Dawn graduated Harlingen High School in 1974. After spending time as a dental assistant, she worked for several years in advertising with Bill Mayo. She also worked for Scoggins, McKelvey, and Almon, CPA, before the birth of her son. She spent the last 23 years dedicated to her son and to Randy’s auto repair business. She loved keeping up with the events around town and was attentive to the people she loved. She had a vivacious spirit and was a fierce advocate for her beliefs. At the same time, every situation had a humorous side that she could share with everyone. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Visitation hours will be from 6 to 8pm on Sunday, June 29, at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home with the family present. As per families request no other services will be held.
The family request that those desiring to do so may make a memorial donation to the Harlingen High School Scholarship Fund, 1201 Marshall Ave., Harlingen, TX 78550 in memory of Rae Dawn.
