Willie Preston Payne was 88 years old and living in Rio Hondo, Texas when he died on Sunday, August 7, 2016.
He was born on February 17, 1928 in Stafford, Oklahoma to Bill and Beaulah Payne. Preston had two sisters, Loraine Barr and Darlene Leadbetter and one brother, Marvin Payne. He was married to Janet Payne for 27 years.
After retiring from Southwestern Bell Telephone with 33 years of service, he enjoyed restoring antique cars and camping in his motorhome.
Preston is survived by his wife, Janet, children: Preston Payne Jr., Cindy Payne Young, and Tammy Cowan, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Marvin Payne and his sister, Loraine Barr.
Services will be held Thursday, August 11, 2016. Visitation is from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home in Harlingen; followed by a graveside service at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery in Weslaco at 11:00 AM.
