Porfirio Trevino, Sr

Porfirio Trevino Sr. 94, passed away peacefully August 11, 2023 in Rio Hondo, Texas. He was born to the late Lauro Trevino and Lucinda Perales Trevino on July 1, 1929 in Rio Hondo, Texas.

Porfirio worked and retired as a foreman for CPL.   He was of the Catholic faith and was member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in San Benito, Texas. Porfirio was a Fourth-Degree member of the Knight of Columbus.

In his leisure time, he enjoyed farming and mechanic work.

Porfirio is preceded in death by his parents Lauro and Lucinda Trevino, his wife Elida G. Trevino, and several siblings.

Left to treasure Porfirio’s memory are his children, Porfirio Trevino Jr and Velma Trevino; his grandchildren, Joe David Leija Jr., Reymundo Leija (Rachel), Crystalina E. Sanchez, Akalina N. Villarreal (Ruben); and great grandchildren, Gabriel Porfirio Leija, Matthew Rey Leija, Noah David Leija and Mia Joy Villarreal.

The family would like to thank Linwood Hospice for their care.

The Trevino family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home.  A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7  o’clock Thursday evening.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 18, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church in San Benito.  Following the service, Porfirio will be laid to rest at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Joe David Leija Jr., Matthew Rey Leija, Reymundo Leija, Gabriel Porfirio Leija, Ruben Villarreal, Noah David Leija, and Richard Massiatte.  Raymond Rodriguez will serve as honorary pallbearer.
