RIO HONDO, TX. – Petra G. Gomez, born on December 17, 1928 in Raymondville, Texas, died on Monday, September 28, 2015 at her residence in Rio Hondo, Texas surrounded by family. She was 86 years old.
Petra enjoyed sewing, cooking, and gardening.
Her husband, David Salinas Gomez; son, Daniel Gomez; daughter, Eva Gomez; and granddaughter, Soila Gracia, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children Esperanza G. Marchan (Joe+), David Gomez, III (Mary), Elvira G. Gracia (Gilberto), Cosme Gomez (Kathy), Celia Gomez, Maria J. Gomez, Benito Gomez (Maria), and Tomas Gomez (Velma Ann); nineteen grandchildren; and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours are on Wednesday, September 30, 2015, beginning at three o’clock in the afternoon and concluding at nine o’clock at night, with a recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o’clock Wednesday evening within the San Benito Funeral Home Chapel, 1400 West Highway 77, San Benito, Texas 78586.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at ten o’clock in the morning, in St. Helen's Catholic Church, 228 Huisache Avenue, Rio Hondo, Texas 78583.
Committal services will then follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
