Petra C. Cruz journeyed to heaven to be with her Lord on March 10, 2008.
She was born on May 13, 1931 to Federico and Rosa Cisneros in Los Fresnos, Texas.
She had the heart of a servant, and her family and friends sought her nurturing and love.
She loved to garden and crochet. She also loved to quilt, and made a special quilt for each grandchild. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Martin Cruz, Sr. Also surviving her are their children: Lupita (Charlie) Escobedo of Pflugerville, TX; Rose Salas and Martin Cruz, Jr. of Laureles; Trina Gamez, Magdalena Cox and Celina Crawford (Jerry) of Dallas; Roy (Chris), Diana (Denny) Brannan and Sylvia Trevino of the Austin area; Silver Cruz of Brownsville and her loving sisters Lupita Cisneros, Juanita Garza, Jesusa Alvear and Dolores Gallegos. She was blessed with twenty five grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held today, Thursday, March 13, 2008 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a Rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m. and a prayer service to follow at 8 p.m. at the San Benito Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 14, 2008, 10 a.m., at San Benito Funeral Home with Pastor Martin Cruz, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Triune Holy Temple Cemetery in Laureles.
Pallbearers will be Mrs. Cruz’s grandsons.
