Otilia O. Abrego

November 18, 1943 — February 12, 2016

SAN BENITO, TX. – Otilia Oviedo Abrego entered into eternal rest on the 12th of February 2016 at her residence, surrounded by her loving children, husband, and relatives.

Otilia or Tila as she was known by family and friends, was born on the 18th of November 1943 in San Benito, Texas to Tibursio and Maria Madgalena Oviedo. Growing up as the eldest of six siblings, Tila enjoyed a special bond with her younger sisters and brothers.  Then in 1963, after a courtship that involved romantic letters and high school dances, she married the love of her life, Reymundo Abrego. Together they raised their six children Nelda, Rey Jr., Linda, Edna, Edward, and Rudy. She was a woman of faith and the heart and soul of the Abrego family. She was a strong woman and set an example for her children to follow in God's footsteps and trust in His Will and Divine plan.

With a true zest for life, Otilia enjoyed spending time with her family. She attended her beloved children's activities and events; and always, with her husband by her side, Otilia went out to the movies, dance halls, and traveled to casinos near and far.

She looked forward to holidays and birthday celebrations, and cherished every special moment she shared with her nine grandchildren, who were her absolute pride and joy.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Survivors include her wonderful husband of fifty-two years, Reymundo Abrego; and her six children Nelda Abrego, Rey (Juanita) Abrego, Linda Abrego, Edward (Cathy) Abrego, Edna (Michael) Benavides, and Rudy (Carmen) Abrego. Her grandchildren, who embody her spirit and manner of living life to its fullest, are Lynette Leader, Jessica Abrego, Steven Abrego, Eddie Abrego, Jr., Aron Abrego, Joey Abrego, Hannah Benavidez, Isabela Abrego, and Sophia Benavides. She also leaves behind her brothers and sisters Tibursio, Irma, Graciela, Jesus Oviedo, and Ruben Villarreal, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours are today, Sunday, the 14th of February 2016, beginning at three o’clock in the afternoon and concluding at nine o’clock at night, with a Chaplet of Divine Mercy scheduled at six twenty in the evening, followed by a recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o’clock this evening within the San Benito Funeral Home Chapel, 1400 West Highway 77, San Benito, Texas 78586.
