Rio Hondo, TX- Otila S. Garza, 81, beloved mother and grandmother entered into eternal life on March 26, 2014 at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen, TX.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Juan T. Garza; her parents Antonio Sanchez and Rebecca Gonzalez Sanchez; her daughter Rosalinda Garza and her brother Raul Sanchez.
She is survived by her daughters Janie G. (Jaime) Perez, Elizabeth G. (Richard) Chavez, Juanita G. Lopez; her sister Dora S. Cortez; her grandchildren Jaime Perez Jr., Mark Perez, Rebecca Perez, Richard Chavez Jr., Jonathan Dale Chavez, April L. Perales, Bonnie Lopez, Amanda Lopez; her great grandchildren Abram Alejandro Perez, Alexa Nevaeh Chavez and Juan Jose (Minga) Sanchez whom she considered as a son.
A special thanks to Dr. Ameer Hassan and his stroke team at VBMC, caring nurses in the NICU unit, Odyssey Hospice and Nurses that Care Services. A very special thank you to her loving and caring caregiver Natalia M. Galvan.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2014 at San Benito Funeral Home. A chapel service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014 at San Benito Funeral Home with Pastor Feliberto Pereira officiating. Interment will follow to Las Yescas Cemetery.
