Oscar R. Garcia

Oscar R. Garcia passed away peacefully into the presence of his Savior on October 6th, 2023.
Oscar was born on November 24th, 1932 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Manuel Garcia and Juanita De La Rosa Garcia.

He lived the majority of his life in San Benito, Texas. He was also a lifetime member of San Benito Presbyterian Church where he served as both a deacon and a ruling elder. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957.

Oscar loved fishing and was an avid hunter as well. Up until a few months prior to his death, he spent time grilling for his family, friends, and members of his church. He also loved attending San Benito football and softball games.

Oscar is preceded in death by his parents Manuel Garcia and Juanita De La Rosa Garcia, his
granddaughter Rebecca Garcia, his brother Manuel Garcia, and his sister Viola G. Barrera.

Oscar is survived by the mother of his children Elida M. Garcia; his children, Oscar (Pamela) Garcia Jr., George (Cynthia) Garcia, Carlos (Brenda) Garcia, Rosie Garcia, Janie (Adrian) Hernandez, and Raymond (Alicia) Garcia; seven grandchildren, Carlos (Kenzi) Garcia Jr., Matthew Hernandez, Christopher Garcia, Thomas Garcia, Elizabeth Garcia, Luke (Ana) Hernandez and Madeline Hernandez. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Kora Garcia, Gunnar Garcia and Remilia Hernandez and three siblings Concepcion G. Montemayor, Manuel R. Garcia, and Janie G. Barrientos, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He will be sorely missed by his German Shepard, Buddy.

Oscar will always be remembered by how he lived life unapologetically and to the fullest. His legacy lives through his family and friends of who will always remember him with love.

The Garcia family  will receive friends and realtives on Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home.  A memorial service will begin at 11:00 o'clock Saturday morning.
