Oralia Perez Losoya (Lalis), born in China NL., Mexico, on November 13, 1943, was called to rest, surrounded by her loving family on October 25,2018.
She was 74 years old. A beloved mother, grandmother and friend, Oralia was a strong and resilient role model for her large and loving family. She migrated to the United States with her six children in the early 1970's without documentation or formal education in search of a better life. She overcame many difficult challenges to provide for her family and show them what is possible through hard work and determination. Oralia labored in produce fields, worked cleaning homes and in varies restaurants in and around San Benito, including Lalis' Cafe, which she eventually owned and operated for 40 years. Her business and her children were her priority throughout her life. During the past three years, as she battled cancer and endured treatments, she continued to care for her family, look over her business and never lost hope. Throughout her life, she was an excellent mother, successful business woman and a fighter to the end.
Left to cherish her memory are her six children: Pedro Salcedo (Elizabeth), Norma Alicia Salcedo (Antonio), Nora Elia Platas (Felix), Alma Nelly Benavidez (Fernando), Sandra Idalia De Leon, Jose Luis Salcedo (Angelica); 20 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren,1 sister and 3 brothers and a large extended family. Proceeded in death by 2 brothers and 4 nephews and nieces.
A rosary is planned for Sunday, October 28,2018 at 7pm at San Benito Funeral Home. Viewing will be held Sunday from 12pm-9pm at San Benito Funeral Home, with a Mass on Monday, October 29, 2018 at Saint Benedict's Catholic church at 2pm in San Benito . Burial will follow at Monte Meta cemetery in San Benito, TX.
