San Benito, TX: Omar J. Gonzales, 69, of San Benito, TX was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Harlingen Medical Center.
He was a 1962 graduate from San Benito High School and was employed with the Texas Department of Agriculture for 24 years; he enjoyed classic cars, bar-b-que’s, football and spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Maria R. and Jose De La Fuente; his aunt, Maria E. Garcia, and his uncles, Santiago De La Fuente and Jose De La Fuente, Jr.
Omar is survived by his children, Criselda (Natividad) Ontiveros, Omar (Dena) Gonzales, Jr., Erica (Richard) Guerra, and Celina (Omar B.) Gonzales; his 9 grandchildren, Joshua, Aaron, Nicholas, Gabriela, Daniela, Ricardo, (+) Isabela, Joaquin and a grandchild on the way; along with his mother, Guadalupe De La Fuente; his aunts, Francis Gonzales, Eva Reyna, and Ofelia Martinez; and his uncles, Tony De La Fuente and Lorenzo De La Fuente.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2011 from 12 Noon to 9:00 P.M. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. at San Benito Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 9, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Theresa Catholic Church. Interment will follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Gonzales, Richard Guerra, Omar B. Gonzales, Natividad Ontiveros, Arturo Cavazos, and Tony De La Fuente; honorary pallbearers will be Lorenzo De La Fuente, Eddie Cavazos and Sam Cavazos.
