Born in Donna, Texas to Miguel Torres and Rosa Hernandez, Olivia grew up with three sisters with whom she was inseparable all of her life. Her love of gardening was fostered by the time spent outdoors working with her father to help support their family.
On March 6, 1967, she married John T. Walker Jr, who passed away in 2007. Olivia was a teacher at heart and spent years working with Pre-K students at Calvary Christian School where she was also an active member of the church for many years. She later went worked at TSTC, where she built many friendships, as she mentored and assisted young college students. Though she spent most of her life in the Rio Grande Valley, she enjoyed traveling the USA and spending time in the Piney Woods of East Texas with her extended family.
The importance she placed on family shone in those people whose lives she touched. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jenny and Michael Kelly, and her son and daughter-in-law, Jeremiah & Jessica Walker.
Whether dancing to the radio in the living room, card-making, or cooking in the kitchen with them, she was a loving Abuela to those she held most precious, her grandchildren, Kyah, Aria, and Beck Walker. They always spent time blowing bubbles in the backyard while she tended to her flowers and plants or played up and down the decorated halls of Abuela’s house with her collections of angels and crosses keeping watch over them.
