Olga Lozano

Olga Lozano entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 07, 2014 at her home.  She was born in Harlingen, Texas on September 3, 1924 to Guillermo M. Lozano and Margarita V. Lozano, a pioneer family in Harlingen.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Guillermo (Willie) M. Lozano, Jr., Robert (Beto) C. Lozano and her sisters Margarita L. Cuellar and Paulita L. Villarreal.
She was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church where she was active as an Elder, Sunday School teacher, worked with the Women of the Church, and served on several committees of the church on the local level and the Presbytery level.  She started the Older Adult Ministry in her local church and worked with the Older Adult Ministry for many years.
Ms. Lozano was a registered pharmacist.  She graduated from the University of Texas, College of Pharmacy in Austin, Texas.  Most of her professional work was done at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, where she worked as head of the Pharmacy Department for twenty-nine years until her retirement.  She also enjoyed serving the Harlingen Community Concerts for many years.
Ms. Lozano was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt and a wonderful friend to many.  She devoted her life to serving God and to living her life in a true Christian manner.  Her abundant love for her family and her example of living will always be remembered by many.
The family would like to thank Dr. Shenkenberg, Dr. Kotta, and their staff for the medical care and kindness that they rendered to her.
She is survived by her nieces Margarita C. Bass, Elizabeth C. Medrano, and Dr. Juliet V. Garcia; and her nephews David M. Lozano, Guillermo (Billy) M. Lozano III, Romeo Villarreal, Jr., Mario L. Villarreal, Robert C. Lozano, Jr. and Faustino Richard Lozano.  She is also survived by several grand nieces and nephews, by other family members, and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home in Harlingen on Friday, April 11, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will be on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Second Presbyterian Church in Harlingen.  Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in La Feria.
Pallbearers will be her nephews and grand nephews Robert C. Lozano, Jr., Romeo Villarreal, Jr., Mario L. Villarreal, David A. Medrano, Oscar D. Garcia, and John R. Bass.
Honorary pallbearers will be David M. Lozano, Guillermo (Billy) M. Lozano, Faustino Richard Lozano, grand nephews, and grand nieces.
In lieu of flowers donation may be given to the Olga Lozano Memorial Scholarship for Medical Professions at the University of Texas at Brownsville, President’s Office, 1 West University Blvd., Cueto Building, Brownsville, TX 78520 or to the charity of choice.
