Novell Warner, 96, passed away at the Harlingen Nursing Center on Monday, August 29, 2011.
Novell was born on November 25, 1914 in Marietta, TX to Aubie and Valera Campbell. She and her family came to the Valley in the early 1920’s and settled on New Combes Highway. She met her husband, who was from Cabot, AR, here in the Valley as he visited with his uncle Jim. They were married on December 17, 1936 and lived on 3 acres of land given to them by her father and mother. She ran a small country grocery store located on New Combes Highway for 15 years.
Novell is survived by a daughter, Hazel (Bart) Haynes, sons, James (Janis) Warner, Tony (Toni) Warner, and Wayne Warner all of Harlingen; eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Warner, son, Aubie Warner, granddaughter, Lynda Haynes Nott, and brothers, A.D. Campbell and Wayland Campbell.
Visitation hours will be held from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with the family present from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Novell’s life will be held at the Harlingen-Combes Cemetery, 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 1, 2011 with the Rev. Chris Hall officiating.
