Norine Gladys Long Chamberlain

June 6, 1937 — February 17, 2025

Norine Gladys Long Chamberlain, aged 87, peacefully passed on February 17, 2025, in Harlingen, Texas.

Norine was born in Los Angeles, California, on June 6, 1937, to the late William Jack Long and Edna Walton Carson Long. 

She attended Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, and worked for Frost Bank until her retirement after thirty-two years of dedicated service. She was the Senior Vice President of the Frost Bank Trust/Tax Department in San Antonio, Texas.

In her leisure time, she enjoyed reading, spending time with her beloved dog, Honey, and participating in church activities. Norine was proud to have been selected to run with the Olympic torch through San Antonio.

Norine loved sharing her time and talents as a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, the annual Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, and the Helping Hands Senior Citizen Center. She was a Christian and a Presbyterian elder, Sunday school teacher, Mo-Ranch Summer Camp counselor, and member of Pipe Creek Little Rock Church of Pipe Creek, Texas, and Treasure Hills Presbyterian Church of Harlingen, Texas.

Norine is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Anthony Chamberlain; grandson, James Wayne Dillon; parents, William Jack Long and Edna Walton Carson Long; and sister, Betty Lou Long Pollok

Left to treasure Norine's memory are her daughter, Norlene Colette Chamberlain (Roger Dale Dillon); grandchildren, Dawn Dillon Souder (Andrew), Mark Dillon (Latoya); great-grandchildren, Brandon Hensley (Rachel), Ashlee Montgomery, Elizabeth Dillon, and Kinley Dillon; great-great-grandchildren, Avery Montgomery and Tristan Hensley; adopted granddaughter, Maria Aguilar; nephews, Miles Pollok (Patti), Mark Pollok (Lisa), Mike Pollok (Beth); great-nephews, Tyler Pollok (Mary Allan), Alec Pollok (Julie), Hunter Pollok, Brant Griffith (Julie), Kent Griffin, Wade Griffin, Landon Griffin; great-niece, Arielle Birt (Bryan); brother-in-law, Raymond Pollok. She will also be greatly missed by her dear friend of forty years, Ann Edwards and Loretta Strub, a dear friend of thirty-five years, and her faithful companion of fourteen years, her dog Honey.

Norine's family wishes to thank the caring Gentiva Hospice staff and caregivers Lisa Phipps, Antonia and Amy Garza, Esther Lopez, Rosy Martinez, Valerie Jennings, Juan Hernandez, and Maria Aguilar. 

A service to celebrate the life of Norine Gladys Long Chamberlain will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Treasure Hills Presbyterian Church, located at 2120 N. Ed Carey Drive, Harlingen, Texas.
