HARLINGEN, TX:
Nelldean Alley Kenney departed from this earth on May 20, 2007 in Harlingen, she was 77.
Nelldean was born in Crystal City, TX on July 22, 1929 to James Westley and Sallie Barbara Alley.
She and her family moved to Harlingen in 1941 where she attended Harlingen schools and graduated from Harlingen High School in 1946. After graduation, she worked at First National Bank in Harlingen and then Bush Supply until her eldest daughter was born.
She met her husband, Clarence Howard in 1946 and they were married on November 24, 1948. She was a wonderful wife and mother. Always kindhearted, Nelldean became a stay-at-home mom until her children were grown, at which time she went to work for Welch-White and Company.
She loved sewing and cooking and taking care of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a younger brother Robert, brother-in-law Larry Myers and son-in-law William “B.J.” Joseph.
She is survived by her loving husband, C.H.; her daughters, Kristin (Ray) Lafrenaye of Coral Gables, FL and Clarice “Rece” (Bill) Place of Harlingen; a sister, Lorraine Myers of Marble Falls, TX; brother, Jim (Vonnie) Alley of Farmington, NM; and sister-in-law Jeannie Alley of North Ogden, UT. She also had three grandchildren, Kasie Joseph Connor (Phil) of Austin, TX, Jennifer Joseph of Austin, TX, Crystal Place Jauregui of Harlingen and one great grandson, Corgan Matthew Jauregui and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 22, 2007 from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the family being present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Graveside services only will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2007, 10 a.m., at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations may be made to Odyssey Healthcare, 2501 Paredes Line Rd, Brownsville, Texas 78521.
The family would like to thank Marty Anderson and her staff of caregivers and Odyssey Healthcare for their care of Mrs. “Nellie”.
