Myron R. Schultz

May 11, 1930 — January 14, 2008

HARLINGEN, TX:
Myron R. Schultz, Sr., 77, peacefully entered eternal life with his Savior on Monday, 14 January 2008, while surrounded by family. He was born in Thornton, IL on 11 May 1930 to Arthur Schultz and Lillian Beetz. He graduated from Thornton Township High School in Harvey, IL in 1948. He was a member of the Harvey Police Department until his retirement from the force in 1975, when he was ranked second in command. After that he and his wife moved to Des Moines, IA, where they owned and operated an A&W Drive-In Restaurant until 1985, when they moved to Texas and became permanent residents of Harlingen.  Both he and his wife were school bus drivers for Harlingen ISD until their retirement after 13 years of service.
He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Teresa Laura Schultz, and his sons Myron Jr. (Chantal) and Larry (Lisa), daughter Karol (David) Spencer, step-son George (Janet) McBroom (all in Illinois or Indiana) and step-daughter Anita McBroom Bernard (Edinburg, TX), 14 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Arlene Erakovich (Houston, TX) and Cheri Plaia (Dolton, IL), brother Doug (Jan) Schultz (Thornton, IL), brothers-in-law Robert (Harriet) Chesi (Kerrville, TX) and Ray (Diane) Chesi (Lombard, IL), and numerous nieces and nephews.
From the 1960’s through the early 1980’s, Myron coached Babe Ruth and Little League baseball.  He loved working with kids. He was also an all-around handyman, who could fix anything.  Throughout his lifetime, he was very industrious, always keeping occupied with various hobbies, including woodworking and remodeling, as well as salvaging and refinishing everything from filing cabinets to cars. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need, and was well known and liked by people at work, at church, and in his neighborhood. Myron was very fond of traveling in his RV, especially when going to visit his family north of the Rio Grande Valley. He was a godly man who lived his faith and he will be sorely missed.
Visitation will be at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home in Harlingen on Friday, 18 January 2008, from 12 noon to 9 pm, including a prayer service at 7 pm to be led by Pastor Bill Reagan of St. Paul Lutheran Church. You may also sign the online guestbook at www.buck-ashcraft.com.
Arrangements are under the direction of Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.
