Harlingen:
Myrl Bell Newhouse, passed away from this life on Friday, August 2, 1013 at the age of 102.
Mrs. Newhouse had lived in the Rio Grande Valley since soon after her marriage to Flavil Newhouse on Thanksgiving Day 1930 in Honey Grove, Texas.
She was a member of the Eighth & Harrison Church of Christ in Harlingen and was a former Sunday School Teacher there.
Her many interest included, gardening, vocal music and poetry writing. Her numerous club affiliations included; the Garden Club, City Federation, Music Club, Harlingen Area Council of Garden Clubs, Past Presidents Council and Writers League.
Myrl is survived by several nieces and nephews and her Eighth & Harrison Church of Christ family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Stella Bell, husband, Flavil Newhouse, brothers, Cliff, Hugh, Allen, William and Dean Bell, and sisters, Winnie Rood, Josephine Williams, Bess Speke, and Lois Smith.
Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Monday, August 5, 2013 at the funeral home.
Graveside services only will be held at Restlawn Memorial Park, 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 6, 2013 with Jake Vincent officiating.
