Myra M. Becker

October 9, 1919 — April 11, 2015

Myra Piles Chapman Meyer Becker, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed peacefully in her sleep on April 11, 2015 at the young age of 95 years.
Myra was born in Hon, Arkansas on October 9, 1919 to Martha Clarice and Sam Piles. Myra married Don Chapman in 1939 and they had 2 children. They were divorced in 1954.  In 1955 she moved to Harlingen, TX with her new husband and “the love of her life”, Harry Meyer (dec’d). Myra spent the next 54 years building her life long memories with family and friends.
Myra worked for the Madison Hotel for 4 years, Dr. Jondahl for 2 years, and a short period for the Sun Valley Motel.  In 1963 she went to work for KGBT Radio and TV where she directed radio traffic.  She loved her job and retired from KGBT in 1985 after a successful and rewarding 22 years.
Myra was a devoted 54 year member of The First Methodist Church in Harlingen. She held a lifetime endowment in the Order of the Eastern Star Harlingen Chapter #641, which was awarded to her by her family after being a devoted member for 50 Years.  This is where she gave her free time and devoted her work to the Order’s activities, charity work and parties.
In 2009 Myra moved to Bulverde, TX, to live with her son and his family. She loved the Texas Hill Country and enjoyed being with all the family. Her great-grandchildren taught her how to use and play games on her IPAD and that’s how she continued to receive the news and social greetings from her friends and family.  We will miss seeing the twinkle in those beautiful blue eyes and the smile that lit up every room she entered.
Myra is survived by her children: Donna Sue Chapman, Houston, TX,  Frank Chapman (Donna Page Chapman), Bulverde, TX,  grandchildren: Kisha Chapman-Martinez (Robert), Bulverde, TX,  Frank (Bubba) Chapman Jr. (Lindsay),Boerne, TX,  great-grandchildren: Brendan Layne and Emily Amanda Martinez, and Lindan Page and Ryan Elizabeth Chapman, brother: Charles Piles, Ft. The family would like to extend a special thank you and our heartfelt appreciation to the care teams with Care Choice Nursing in Boerne, Texas and Gentiva Hospice, for giving her so much caring love and keeping her safe from pain for the 2 ½ months they took care of her after her stroke. The gift to the family was peace of mind knowing she went from your loving hands to Gods.
A memorial will be planned to honor our mother in the next few months in the Texas Hill Country.  Myra’s wishes were, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Fund of your choice or the Gentiva Hospice Foundation,1001 Water Street Suite B-100 Kerrville, Texas 78018, in her honor.
