Mitch A. McCormick

Mitch McCormick passed away on Friday, July 15, 2022 surrounded by loved ones.  Mitch was born in Ft. Sill, Oklahoma to William “Mac” and Mary McCormick on January 2, 1953.  He was the fourth of six sons.

Because of his father’s service in the U.S. Army, Mitch had the unique experience of growing up across the world. His family spent time in France, three tours in Germany and several in various parts of the United States. He often said that growing up as a military brat was the best childhood that he could have asked for.

Upon graduation from Stuttgart American High School in Germany, Mitch enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served five and a half years in the Honor Guard in Washington D.C., where he rose to the position of senior soloist on the traveling drill team. His last three and a half years were spent in Germany where he served in a mechanized infantry unit.

After being honorably discharged from the Army, Mitch worked in a variety of jobs, eventually starting a career with Domino’s Pizza as a franchise area leader. After becoming a father, Mitch purchased his first Domino’s Pizza store to allow him to be closer to home and spend more time with his family. Over the course of his thirty-two year career as a Domino’s franchisee, Mitch was an owner of six stores – a few of which were some of the top-grossing stores in the country.

Mitch was an incredibly hard-working man who always put his family first.  He was an avid reader who enjoyed spending time at the beach with a drink in his hand. He could often be found “puttering” in his yard and spending time in the sun. Most of all, he enjoyed being with his family and traveling with his Stuttgart friends, commonly known as “the cool gang.”

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Penni, his sons, Travis (Elizabeth), Lance, Davis Eubanks and Colin Eubanks. He is also survived by three brothers, Shelly, Wayne (Delores) and Steve (Sandra), as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers John and Bill.

A memorial service for Mitch will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Harlingen.  A private family service with full military honors will be held at a later date at the Rio Grande Valley State Veteran’s Cemetery in Mission.
