Michael Jay Martinez

Michael Jay Martinez, born June 17, 1976 in San Benito, Texas, has gone home to be with the Lord.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Maribel Soto Martinez; his two sons, Michael Jay Martinez and Justin Jay Martinez; his two daughters, Breyanna Ellie Martinez and Victoria Lynn Zaragosa, all of Angleton, Texas and one of Harlingen, Texas.

He is also survived by his mother and stepfather, María and Ascensión Sánchez of Freeport, Texas; father, Jacinto Martinez (Connie Garcia); his sisters, Michelle Martinez and family, and Angelica Martinez; his brothers, Rolando Sanchez and J.D. Martinez; his uncles and aunt’s brothers, cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Maternal grandparents, Fernando and Teresa Sáenz, and paternal grandparents, Jacinto and Manuela Martinez, preceded Michael in death.

The Martinez family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, September 3, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home, Chapel A.

A funeral service will take place Saturday, August 4, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home, Chapel A. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Michael Jay Martinez, Justin Jay Martinez, J.D. Martinez, Rudy Martinez, Rolando Sanchez, Alberto Sáenz, Marcos Soto, and Eloy Barrera.  Serving as honorary pallbearers are Jayden Austin, Alfonso Martinez, Julio Robles, and Noe Galaviz.
