Harlingen:
Merrill A. “Bebe” James, 84, passed away Monday, August 29, 2011 at Harlingen Medical Center after a short illness.
Bebe was born on October 16, 1926 in San Antonio, TX to Charles and Florence Skaggs. She was a graduate of Weslaco High School and Stephens College of Missouri. She was a longtime resident of Weslaco before moving to Harlingen where she had lived at the Harlingen Country Club for many years.
Bebe was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Weslaco and St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Harlingen. She also was a member of the Harlingen Country Club where she was an avid golfer and card player.
She is survived by daughters, Jane Ann (Larry) Seal of McAllen, TX, Nancy (Mike) Shaw of Fredericksburg, TX, Susan (Terry) Terhune of Harlingen, TX and Jennifer (Dale) Miller of Hartville, MO; grandchildren, Florence (Brandon) Henderson, Lance (Elizabeth) Seal, Michael (Suzanne) Shaw, Eleanor Claiborne, Rob Shaw, Lynsey (Cortney) Brown, Timothy (Tammy) Johnson, Suzanne Car, and Melissa (Andrew) Brown; nineteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Ed “Sonny” James.
A Celebration of Bebe’s life will be St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Harlingen, 1:30 PM, Tuesday, September 6, 2011 with the Rev. Scott Brown officiating.
