Meredith Ann Weekley

Meredith Ann Lambe Weekley died Monday, December 18, 2017 in Harlingen, TX. She was 88.

Meredith was born May 9, 1929 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Howard and Edith Lambe. She had one sister, Marcia Lambe Schupp.

Meredith and her family came to the Valley after her High School, graduation.  She joined the Alamo Community Church, where she met her future husband, Charles “Chuck” Weekley.  They attended Edinburg Junior College and The University of Texas.  After his service in the Air force they settled in San Benito, where Chuck was manager/owner of Whalen’s of San Benito.  Meredith was active in the community.  She was a long-time member of the 1st Presbyterian Church of San Benito where she served as Deacon, President of the Women of the Church, numerous times, Sunday School teacher, Bible study leader, worship leader and twice she delivered the sermon.  She was president of the Junior Service League.  She was a homeroom mother and Cub Scout den Mother for her children; served as president of SBHS Band Boosters and was on the Board of the Lower Valley Cotillion Club.   She was active in Twelve-thirty Club and Life Begins at Forty at the Harlingen Country Club.  She was an active member of Chapter CW P.E.O. Sisterhood where she served as President and State Convention Chairman.

Meredith was predeceased by her parents, her sister Marcia Schupp, Chuck Weekley, her husband of 56 years, son-in-law Irv Catchman and her grandson, J.C. Ayoub.  She is survived by four children: Claire Montesino of Houston, Jan Ayoub (Andy) of San Benito, Bill Weekley (Carrie) of San Benito and Susan Catchman of San Benito; six grandchildren: Michael Montesino (Louisa) of Houston, Mark Montesino of Houston and David Montesino (Gwen) of Houston, Kelly Carroll (Keith) of Austin, Brittany Murray (Scott) of Ft. Worth and Bill Weekley (Edens) of Riviera and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1st Presbyterian Church, 566 N. Reagan, San Benito on Saturday, January 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with a reception to follow in the fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the 1st Presbyterian Church of San Benito.
