Melissa “Missy” Mary Driskill, 84, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2006 at Valley Baptist Medical Center. Missy was born September 29, 1922 in Kramer, ND to Milo and Pearl Parsons.
She was very active in Rotary for over 30 years; member of Sunburst Rotary Club in Harlingen and a Paul Harris Fellow. Missy was a graduate honor student from Bemidji State College with a Bachelor of Science and Masters Degree in Education. She authored Children’s Spelling Textbook for McMillan Company; she was a Sunday school superintendent w/ First Lutheran Church in Bemidji, MN. Missy was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Harlingen for 10 years, after retiring with her husband.
Missy is survived by her loving husband, Everett Driskill; children, Donald Masterson, Michael Masterson and wife Mary Kay, and Steven Masterson and wife Rosalyn; step-daughter, Wendy Taylor and husband Steven; step-son, Scott Driskill and wife Lisa; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Visitation hours will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2006 from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm with the family present from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm to receive friends at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 4, 2006 at 2:00 pm at the Wesley United Methodist Church with Reverend Tim Brewer officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery in Minnesota at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions made to the Wesley United Methodist Church Chapel Fund, 1406 E. Austin, Harlingen, TX 78550, or Loaves and Fishes, 507 N. 1st Street, Harlingen, TX. 78550.
