Melinda Corkill
June 24, 1950 — February 1, 2018
Melinda Corkill longtime resident and friend to many in Harlingen, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018.
Melinda was born in San Antonio, TX on June 24, 1950, she was the daughter of James Richard Corkill and Zula Merle Connell. She was an excellent educator in the South Texas area for 32 years, most recently teaching at Long Elementary in Harlingen. She attended Lon Morris College and graduated from McMurray University in Abilene. She was a member of Christian Fellowship Church in Harlingen and several home prayer groups.
She is survived by sisters, Martha Corkill Rentz (Jim) of Mill Spring, NC, Georgia Anderson (Carl) of Kingsville, TX, and Gena Stockton (Jim) of McAllen; nephews, Stephen Corkill of Ft. Worth, TX, David Corkill of Corpus Christi, TX, and Reed Skinner of Greenville, SC. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Corkill.
Melinda was a spiritual warrior, who regularly lifted many others to the Lord in prayer in their special times of need.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Feb. 6th at 2:00 PM at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home with Pastor Vernon Ellsworth presiding.
