Houston/San Benito, TX - Melida Rosas Garcia, 82, passed away peacefully the 1st of December 2012 at her home in Houston Texas. Her final days were spent surrounded by friends and family members whose lives were lovingly touched throughout her very memorable life. Melida, a committed catholic, invested most of her time and energy into family where she consistently put others needs before hers.
Melida Garcia was born on March 22, 1930 to Cruz and Juanita Rosas. She was a 25 year employee of the Spring Branch School District until her retirement in 1998. She dedicated much of her time to serving her family and found peace in her gardening. Her love and servitude will never be forgotten by those who were closest to her during life.
Melida Garcia is survived by her loving children, Blanca Galvan and husband Aurelio, Joel Garcia, Julio Garcia and wife Verna, Leticia King and husband Clyde, Sandra Gonzales and husband Paul, Beatriz Cline and husband Johnny, Arnold Garcia, and Nora Garcia; many grandchildren and multiple great grandchildren; she is also survived by her brother, Juan Davila; her sisters, Lydia Aguirre and husband Alfonso, and Aurora Martinez; and an abundance of family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Alfonso Garcia; and her beloved son, Victor Garcia, surviving spouse Rosa Garcia.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 from 1:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M with the Holy Rosary prayed at 7:00 P.M. at San Benito Funeral Home.
The funeral precession will depart San Benito Funeral Home on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at 9:30 A.M. for a 10:00 A.M. Funeral Mass at St. Theresa Catholic Church. Interment will follow at San Benito City Cemetery.
