Melanie Dawn Jones Alexander, 37, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Harlingen Medical Center after a hard fought battle against breast cancer.
Melanie was born May 29, 1975 in Charleston, SC to Malcolm and Brenda (Dodd) Jones.  She was a graduate of Harlingen High School and studied to be an Insurance Specialist and Medical Billing.
Melanie was employed with Boggus Motor Company in Harlingen as the Boggus Ford Quick Lane Manager and Service Advisor. She formerly worked as Manager of Billy’s Western Wear.
Melanie loved sports and was active with church and city league softball, basketball coach, little league baseball coach and served as secretary of the American Little League in Harlingen.  She also was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Harlingen.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne Alexander; step-daughter, Suzy Alexander; sons, Briar Holt and Braydon Alexander, all of La Feria; parents, Malcolm and Brenda Jones of Harlingen; grandmother, Elizabeth Dodd of Harlingen; sister, Michele Wood (D.J.) of Harlingen; nephew, DuWayne Jones of Aurora, CO; niece, Bethany Wood of Harlingen; nephew, Cameron Wood of Harlingen; and numerous wonderful cousins and friends.  She was preceded in death by grandparents, Morris Dodd (Popo), and Milton and Ila Jones (Granny and Papaw).
A Celebration of Melanie’s life will be held at the First Church of the Nazarene in Harlingen, 10:00 AM, Thursday, March 14, 2013 with Pastor Mel Justice officiating.  Burial will follow at the Raymondville Cemetery.
Those desiring to do so may make memorial donations to the First Church of the Nazarene, 2001 N. 7th St., Harlingen, TX 78550 or to the charity of choice.
The family wishes to give a special thanks to Melanie’s best friends Zenia Pupek Villarreal and Amy Madryl for their unending love and support, to the Boggus Family as well as all Boggus Ford Employees for standing behind Melanie and loving her through such difficult circumstances, to the Harlingen Medical Center ER and ICU doctors and nurses for all there care and concern, and Aunt Bettie Thomas for giving her best care during her last days.
