Maynard O. Hye, 81, passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2010 at a nursing center in Harlingen.
Maynard was born June 16, 1929 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Charles Wesley and Sadie M. Hye. He graduated from North High School in Wichita Kansas and proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Maynard was employed by Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, KS and retired after 44 years of loyal service. He was a member of Rio Hondo Baptist Church, the VFW and the American Legion. Maynard enjoyed square dancing and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Michael Evan Hye.
Maynard is survived by his wife Gloria Jean Hye; his children, Lonnie Dell Hye, Cindy Jean Hye-Lewis, Don Charles Hye and Evan Michael Hye; sister, Wynona Fallis; four grandchildren, Jessie Jean Lewis, Sara Hye, Wanita Hye and Ian Hye; and two great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, October 7, 2010, 11 a.m., at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery 2520 S. Inspiration Road in Mission, TX with Rev. Gene Horton officiating.
