She attended a Business School in Harlingen.  She married Verl Floyd Poston in 1942 and moved to Port Isabel. She and Verl lived there until 1990 and they moved to their small farm West of Harlingen. Verl died in October 1990.
Her brothers Charles and Grover and half sister Lola Dunn preceded her in death.
They had four children, Pamela Drewery of Harlingen, Floyd (Pat) Poston of Bayview, Phyllis (Johnnie) Maxwell of Friendswood, TX and David Poston of Altamonte Springs, FL and Elaine Poston of Harlingen; six grandchildren, Eric Drewery (Lea) of Trophy Club, TX, Brandy Bancroft (Ron) of Charleston, SC, Jayson Maxwell (Monica) of Omaha, NE, Nena Poston, J.D. Poston both of Altamonte Springs, FL and Jessica Poston of Harlingen; and five great grandchildren, Savannah and Dylan Bancroft, Robin and Joshua Drewery and Cameron Maxwell.
During World War II Maybelle rolled bandages and knitted sweaters for the troops.  She was a member of the Art League in Port Isabel for many years.  In 1972 she received her LVN degree from Texas Southmost in Brownsville graduating 3rd in her class. She worked as a nurse in Brownville and San Benito.
She was always active in her church, First Baptist in Port Isabel.  She served as GA teacher and Director and served in the W.M.U. and sang in the choir. She taught Sunday School and for many years was the church Hostess. For several years she worked on an ostrich ranch with her son. She was a deerhunter. She liked to work on genealogy and found and met lots of new relatives.  She spent many hours on her quilting. After moving from Port Isabel she joined Calvary Baptist Church and then First Baptist Church in Combes where she taught the Women’s class until her stroke in 2001.
She loved her family, her church and to work. She never wanted anyone to go away hungry from her table.
We want to thank her friends Mary Zamora and Irene Garcia, also Dr. Diana Lozano for her care and also Vicky Roy and Gracia Hospice.
We love you mom…Sing with the angels.
