Max Jentsch

Max M. Jentsch, 78, passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at the Aurora House in Weslaco.  He was escorted to Heaven by the Angels to take his place in the heavenly choir that will sing praises to his Savior, Jesus Christ, forever.
Max was born in Wichita, Kansas on Friday, April 13, 1932.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Max and Beulah Jentsch, sisters Mary Jane Barnett, Maxine Westbo, and a son, Billy Max Jentsch.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jean Jentsch; daughters, Eileen Jentsch of Harlingen, Jeannine Weick of Sarasota, FL and son, Max Jentsch, Jr. of Etoile, TX; grandchildren, Jocelyn Sutherland of Portland, OR, Ashley Weick of Sarasota, FL, Luka Ruelas of Pharr, TX, Samuel and Sarah Jentsch of Etoile, TX; great-grandchildren, Xander and Marie Ruelas of Pharr, TX.
Max served in the U.S.A.F. from 1951 to 1954 at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX.  There he met and married Jean Billett, who was First SGT of the U.S. WAF Band.  After moving to Harlingen, they became a musical team in churches all over the Valley and in many community activities, RV Parks and nursing homes.  Max owned and worked at Max’s Shoe Repair Shop until it’s closure and then as a salesman in the car business until his illness.
A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Combes, 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, May 4, 2010 with Pastor Steve Wiest and Dr. Bob Cole officiating.
Many thanks to the staff at the Harlingen Medical Wound Center, nurses, James, John and CNA’s at Retama Manor Nursing Home, Nakita and Emily in particular, and Oscar Herrera, his earthly angel.  Also, Dr. Sanusi and the wonderful care given him at Harlingen Medical Center.  Last but not least, the love and comfort given Max by the employees of the Aurora House.
