Lorelle Boggus Youngblood, 90, entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 4, 2014. Lorelle was born January 28, 1924 in Brownsville, Texas to Lewis and Maudie Boggus. She graduated from Harlingen High School in 1941 where she was voted Best All-Around Student and Queen of Mardi Gras. She then graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, MO in 1943. She married James (Jimmy) L. Youngblood on March 2, 1955 together they owned and were partners in Youngblood Farms, Valley Material Transportation Co., and Har-Tex Cattle Company. Lorelle was a proud member of First United Methodist Church of Harlingen, Texas for over 70 years. Lorelle was founding member and Board member emeritus of The Chapel by the Sea South Padre Island. She was a founding and sustaining member of the Junior League of Harlingen. Lorelle had love and passions for bridge and art, but was best known for her unique sense of humor.
Lorelle was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Maudie Boggus; her husband, Jimmy Youngblood; and her brother Lewis Boggus, Jr.
She is survived by her sons, James L. Youngblood, Jr.; and Bill Youngblood and his wife Teri; grandchildren, Bonner Youngblood and Camille Lorelle Youngblood; brother Frank Boggus, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at First United Methodist Church in Harlingen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church-Harlingen, Loaves and Fishes of Harlingen, or a charity of your choice.
