Harlingen:
Mary Wells, 96, passed from this world on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 to be with the Lord. Mary was born on February 15, 1915 in Lubbock, TX to John N. Lucile Moore. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 65 years, J.B. Wells, Jr. and her daughter, Mary Katherine Wells. She was the last of her family of 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Mary is survived by a son, Johnny R. (Karen) Wells and daughter Wanda (Joe) Baker both of Harlingen. She has 6 grandchildren, Pam Allen, Jay Baker, Cherie (John) Gardner, Monica Chaffee, Johnny M. (Yolanda) Wells and Ron (Rhonda) Wells; 13 great-grandchildren, Victoria Wells, Johnny W. Wells, Amanda Swanson, Jonathan Swanson, Justin Baker, Hunter Wells, Maycie Wells, Hannah Wells, Bailie Gardner, Zachary Gardner, Lauren Chaffee, Cody Williams and Randy Williams; 1 great great great grandson, Jared Manning.
Mary life was an example of a Christian Women. She was a daily Bible reader and faithful member of the 8th and Harrison Church of Christ since moving to Harlingen in 1964. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and fishing, but her favorite times were when she spent time with her grandchildren.
Visitation hours will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at the funeral home from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM with the family receiving friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home, 2:00 PM, Friday, June 3, 2011 with Jake Vincent officiating. Burial will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be family members, Johnny M. Wells, Ron Wells, Jay Baker, Jonathan Swanson, John Gardner, Justin Baker and Hunter Wells.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Youth Dept. at 8th and Harrison Church of Christ, Sunny Glen Children’s Home or charity of choice.
The family wishes thank Dr. Sanusi, the staff at the DaVila Dialysis Center, and Cathy Frazier, her caregiver and trusted friend for all the attention and joy she gave to mother.
