Mary M. Sanchez passed away at her residence on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born on July 22, 1943 to Santos and Concepcion Torres. She was employed with the San Benito School District as the cafeteria Manager at Miller Jordan and Bertha Cabaza Middle Schools. Mary retired after 26 years of service due to her illness. She was president of the Quarter Back Club and helped with the Girls Booster Club and Band Booster.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Santos and Concepcion Torres; her son, Michael T. Sanchez; brother-in-law, Rene Ramirez Sr.; and nephew, Aaron Joseph Cruz.
She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Manuel Sanchez, Jr.; her four children, Minerva Sanchez, Edward (Carol) Sanchez, Manuel (Anjie) Sanchez III, Esmeralda (Steve) Saldana; one brother, Lupe (Fela) Torres; twelve grandchildren, Abby Sanchez, Manuel Sanchez IV, Jessica Lynn, Christopher, Victoria, Mariah and Michael Sylvester Sanchez, Pedro Avila Jr., Veronica (Shawn Jr.) Smith, Steven Paul and Sierra Deserae Saldana and Edward Daniel Sanchez; and two great grandchildren, Shawn Joseph and Kyle Michael Smith.
Also surviving are her in-laws, Manuel Sr. and Gertrudes Sanchez, George (Sally) Sanchez, Bertha (†Rene) Ramirez, Carmen (Angel) Ramirez, Arnold (Diana) Sanchez, Rosie (Juan) Zapata, Mary Lou (Marty) Burrola and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2010 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the Holy rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m. at San Benito Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be held Friday, September 17, 2010 at 2 p.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be P.J. Avila, Lupe Torres, Manuel Sanchez Jr., Edward Sanchez, Steve Saldana and Manuel Sanchez III.
The family wishes to thank Dr. S. Kotta, Dr. B. Bhatla, Dr. J. Pean, Dr. J. Calero, the Neighborhood Home Health, the Medicine Shoppe, Valley Baptist Medical Center Staff, Solara Hospital, Cima Hospice (Alma Cantu) and Father Sam Arizpe of St. Theresa Church.
