Mary Neese

Mary K. Reynolds Neese, 83, passed away Friday, May 9, 2014 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen.
Mary was born on July 25, 1930 in La Feria, TX to William Fred Kinslow and Lossie Gibson Kinslow.  She was raised in La Feria and graduated from La Feria High School.
Mary was married to F. Fergus Reynolds for 33 years.  Mary and Fergus were lifelong partners in their farming and crop-dusting business.  Mary continued to manage the farm alone after his death in 1983.  She was later elected to the La Feria Co-Op Gin Board, the only woman ever to hold this position.  Mary was also a co-owner of Lloyd Betts Interiors, Inc. until 1995.  She attended the First United Methodist Church as well as the First Presbyterian Church in La Feria for many years.  In 1987, Mary married Gilbert E. Neese who preceded her in death in 1992.
In her early life Mary enjoyed being outside, working in her yard and cooking.  For many years she prepared 3 meals a day for her family and noon meals for the employees of Reynolds Flying Service.  Mary was especially known for her delicious homemade pies.
She is survived by her sister, Millie Schwarz Spencer of San Antonio,TX; son Frederick J. Reynolds (Nora) of Harlingen; daughters, Danna Mary Reynolds Berger (Benny) of Kennedale, TX, Alison Reynolds of La Feria and Melanie Reynolds Pemelton (Kelly) of La Feria; 7 grandchildren, Robert Reynolds (Crystal) of Whiteman AFB Missouri,  Michelle Velazquez (Dale) of Corpus Christi, Trey Moody (Michelle) of Kersey, CO, Erin Betts of La Feria, Hailey Rutkowski of La Feria, Taylor Pemelton of La Feria, Jordan Pemelton of La Feria; 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, May 12, 2013 at the funeral home.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home, 10:00 AM, Tuesday, Mary 13, 2014 with the Rev. David Mann officiating.  Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in La Feria.
Pallbearers will be Kelly Pemelton, Erin Betts, Tim Schwarz, Michael Schwarz, Carliss Bauer, and George Alexander.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Benny Berger and Robert Reynolds.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Drs. Mild and Ochoa for all their care and concern.
