Harlingen:
Mary Wilda McQuown, 95, passed away at her residence in Harlingen, Friday, April 25, 2014.
Mary was born on October 16, 1918 in Springfield, MO to Abraham Orlando McQuown and Vacel Ann Smith. She lived in Los Angeles, CA for many years where she worked as the Head Secretary in charge of swearing in new officers and handing them their badges at the Los Angeles Police Department. Mary retired in the early 1970’s after 30 plus years and traveled in the U.S. and abroad. She then moved to Harlingen in 2007 to be closer to family.
Mary is survived by her sister, Betty Pixler; nephews, Dr. Dennis McQuown (Marilyn), Ronald Pixler (Marie), John Rosselot, William Rosselot (Juliet), David Pixler (Terri); nieces, Judy Ledgerton (Victor), Mary Lynne Hodson (Clyde), Kathy Russell (Dan); 15 grand nieces and nephews; 4 great grandnieces and 5 great grand nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Noel McQuown, James McQuown and A.O. McQuown, Jr.; and sister, Doris Rosselot.
A memorial service and burial of her ashes will be held at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Covina, CA at a later date.
