Mary Barbara Harris, 86, ended her earthly journey, Thursday, December 13, 2012 in Harlingen.
Barbara was born in Canada on July 10, 1926 to the Rev. Theodore and Isabel McCracken Branch. After graduation from Texas A & I University in Kingsville, TX, she began what became a 30+ year teaching career.
Barbara and husband, Jack retired to Port Isabel in 1988 to many years of sailing and good times with friends. They were residents of Harlingen when Jack passed away on December 7, 2007.
Barbara leaves a niece, Carrye Franzel and husband, Lee; Aussie and English cousins, “Barbara’s girls” and many friends. A brother, Jimmy, died during the Normandy Invasion.
Memorial services will be held at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Harlingen, Sunday, January 6, 2013 at 2:00 PM, with the Rev. Judy Sessions officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the Episcopal Relief and Development, < er-d.org> or Best Friends Animal Society, <bestfriends.org>.
