Mary Jo Buffett Greer, 83, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen.
Mary Jo was born December 7, 1926 in Pascagoula, MS to Richard and Stella Butler. Her early years were spent in Savannah, GA where she graduated from high school.
Mary Jo served in the United States Navy for 2 years and retired from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service after 26 years. She had a passion for hunting, fishing and traveling which she shared with her family. She had been a resident of Harlingen for the past 10 years and was a former resident of Bayview, TX.
She is survived by her husband, Billy F. Greer; son, Richard D. Buffett; step-children, William R. Greer, Gale Greer, Robin Greer, and John S. Greer; 7 step-grandchildren; 1 step-great granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews; and Carl & Rita Taylor of Pasadena, CA. She was preceded in death by sister, Shirley M. Butler.
No local services will be held and the family request that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, 114 E. Jackson, Harlingen, TX 78550.
